The Hindi Shiksha Sangh turned 75 in 2023 and Hindvani is one of the Sangh’s most successful projects. The objective of the Sangh is to promote the development and propagation of the Hindi language and Hindu culture. Hindvani is situated at the Kasieprasad Pattundeen Hindi Centre, 30 Oak Ave, Kharwastan, Chatsworth 4091.

We are currently broadcasting on 91.5FM in Durban and surrounding areas and on 102.3FM in Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas.

Our Objective

The objective of the Sangh and Hindvani is to promote, via the electronic media, the development and propagation of the Hindi language and Hindu culture.

CULTURE

Prior to the establishment of the Hindi Shiksha Sangh (HSS), the promotion and nurturing of the Hindi language in South Africa was largely the responsibility of community-based organizations.

LANGUAGE

To promote and encourage the learning of the HINDI language in all its aspects, more especially in the written and oral traditions.

UNITY

To create an awareness of, promote and propagate the rich traditions of Hindu North Indian Culture with special reference to Hindu North Indian music, dance, drama and the arts.

The Hindi Shiksha Sangh

Prior to the establishment of the Hindi Shiksha Sangh (HSS), the promotion and nurturing of the Hindi language in South Africa was largely the responsibility of community-based organizations. Since the arrival of the first group of indentured labourers in this country in 1860, religious and other cultural events provided useful but informal forums for this purpose.
