ANC NEC member Derek Hanekom is reportedly suing former President Jacob Zuma for defamation.

Zuma accused the former tourism minister of being an apartheid spy.

Business Day is reporting Hanekom has approached the court to have the allegation tested.

He says the claim has caused damage to his reputation and would continue to so if unchallenged.

The newspaper says Hanekom is suing for R500,000.

Zuma sent out a tweet, saying he wasn’t surprised by claims Hanekom worked with the EFF to oust him.

He branded him a known enemy agent.
