Parliament’s justice committee has halted the process of considering whether or not to support President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to dismiss former top prosecutors Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi from the National Prosecuting Authority.

Jiba brought an application in the Western Cape High Court late yesterday.

She asked for the committee’s proceedings to be suspended while she takes the matter of her removal on review.

Parliamentary legal advisor Siviwe Njikela says they will oppose Jiba’s application

Jiba and Mrwebi were axed after the Mokgoro Inquiry found that they were not fit for office.
